EDRM/DUKE LAW Launches Podcast Series - co-hosted by Brad Schaffel, CEDS, and Joe Bartolo, J.D.


EDRM PODCAST SERIES

Brad Schaffel, CEDS, and I are excited both excited to start the 

EDRM/Duke Law Podcast series. 

The series will be aimed at sharing insights from industry professionals and
providing useful eDiscovery reference information.  Below is the announcement 
of the Podcast series on the EDRM website, along with a link to the initial podcast.

EDRM at Bolch Judicial Institute, Duke Law is partnering with Knovos to produce and provide
a series of occasional podcasts that will share tips on eDiscovery and
information management best practices. We will present interviews with subject matter
experts and litigation support professionals. 

The podcast series consists of interviews conducted by Bradley Schaffel, CEDS, Manager of 
eDiscovery and Litigation Support of Sullivan & Crowell, LLP, and Joe Bartolo, J.D.,
Director of Information Governance and Risk Solutions, of Knovos. 

The interview subjects express their views and opinions on various matters related to the 
legal profession’s use of technology to assist in fulfilling information management and 
compliance obligations.

A primary goal of the podcast is to provide useful reference information to those 
interested in information governance and litigation support, and to call attention to 
resources available via the EDRM website.

  Thankful to have been able to attend the recently completed Legaltech conference in person, which took place from Tuesday, March 8th through Friday, March 11th, in New York City.  Delayed from the originally scheduled February date, LegalWeek began on Monday, March 7th, coinciding as per usual with Legaltech. With this being the 41st year of Legaltech, the conference this year was unique since the event last year took place as a virtual event because of the existing Covid-19 restrictions. Blockchain: the future of eDiscovery?

I have been in the litigation support space for my entire career.  I have been fortunate enough to be at the cutting and bleeding edges of innovation and technology for much of that time. I've ridden the legal tech wave since email was new and we switched from typewriters and carbon paper for correspondence.  I've been immersed in supporting lawyers and clients in navigating changes in legal research (text to CD-ROM to online).  As our industry has become more sophisticated, I have seen us wrestle with meta data, deduplication, predictive coding and TAR, audio and social media discovery, and the challenges of mobile collection.  There's been Bloomberg parcing projects and struggles with structured data.  We've learned about deNisting and what a MIME type was.   Let's not forget (how could we?) the more recent issues with privacy rules in the US and the EU.  Just when we had a handle on things, we fine-tuned our focus and started talking about ...
